Welcome!

I’m Jamie, a sound healing practitioner and vocalist in Portland, Oregon

Within each of us there is a soft space to land for deep rest and reflection. I specialize in crafting sound journeys that guide us to that precious and ethereal place.

Using powerful meditation techniques, we move through the conditional layers (that we’ve unconsciously collected along the way) and into our truest essence and highest self. Sound is a portal to our heart’s deepest desires, an ancient tool that has been channeled for thousands of years to quiet the noise so that we can hear our own inner guidance. I intuitively weave together various practices that gently direct you into a more embodied and heart open state.

chanting, vocal toning, sound baths & guided meditation are all powerful modalities that shift our internal states and leave us feeling rejuvenated, calm, inspired and clear.

Mossy Hymns’ Sound Baths, Vocal Toning and Yoga Nidra sessions use practices that help improve sleep, reduce worry and anxiety, boost energy, awaken creativity & inner peace.

WHAT IS VOCAL TONING:

Vocal toning is a powerful technique in sound healing where you use your voice to make sustained vocal sounds, such as vowels or simple tones. The healing vibrations resonating from your voice, create a healing effect within, calming and balancing the entire ecosystem of the body. Unlike singing, which often involves melody and rhythm, toning focuses on the resonance and vibration of specific sounds.

Science has shown that vocal toning can have profound effects on both our mental and physical health. Our body releases endorphins, “feel-good” hormones - elevating our mood and reducing stress, sending us into a relaxed state. Also, it triggers the release of oxytocin, sometimes called the “love hormone,” which helps reduce anxiety and promotes feelings of trust and bonding—especially when we sound with others.

On a physical level, sounding is a great workout for our lungs and cardiovascular system. It improves lung capacity and can enhance posture, as it requires us to breathe deeply and fully engage your diaphragm. This type of breathing helps to reduce tension and can even lower blood pressure.
